Barcroft Estates, through the Mercroft joint venture with Mercian Developments, has exchanged contracts simultaneously with the landowner and Connaught Care to secure the opportunity to redevelop the former Ridgewood Manor care home site in Uckfield. The project provides for a 70+ bed purpose-built care home and represents a significant opportunity to regenerate a long-standing derelict site.
Ridgewood Manor previously operated as a care home before closing in 2012. The site subsequently remained vacant until a major fire in 2017 destroyed the building. The proposed development therefore provides an opportunity to bring the site back into productive use, with a bespoke care home designed carefully around the site’s challenging topography to minimise its visual impact while delivering a viable and high-quality development for Connaught Care.
