The Project
Barcroft identified an opportunity to bring forward a care home development on approximately 1.64 acres of former pasture land in an attractive setting to the east of West Malling.
Planning permission was secured for a two-storey, 70-bed purpose-built care home, which is being delivered for Avante Care & Support.
The development has been carefully designed to respond to its setting, including the site’s mature trees and its relationship with the surrounding landscape and neighbouring development. The completed care home will provide high-quality accommodation and care within an established and highly attractive part of West Malling.
The project is being delivered through Mercroft, a joint venture development partnership, with funding provided by Aberdeen Investments and Lawrence Baker appointed as contractor. Construction is now underway.
The Location
The site is situated approximately 0.5 miles east of the centre of West Malling, a historic market town in Kent known for its attractive historic character, independent shops, restaurants and established community facilities.
The site’s location provides residents with access to the amenities and services of the town while retaining an attractive, semi-rural setting. Mature trees and the surrounding landscape contribute to the character of the site and provide an appropriate setting for the new care home.
Barcroft's Role
Barcroft identified the development opportunity and led the planning process, securing consent for the 70-bed care home before progressing the scheme into construction for Avante Care & Support.
Through the Mercroft joint venture, Barcroft is responsible for delivering the scheme alongside its project partners, bringing together the planning, funding, operational and construction requirements necessary to deliver the care home.
