The Project
Barcroft has secured approximately 4.8 acres of greenfield land in Farnham Common, providing an opportunity to deliver a 70-bed purpose-built care home alongside ancillary uses.
The proposed development would provide high-quality, modern care accommodation in an established and attractive community, helping to address the identified need for additional care provision within the local area. By providing specialist accommodation for older people, the scheme would also help to free up existing homes within the wider housing market for families and younger people, making a positive contribution to the local housing supply.
The site provides an opportunity to deliver a carefully considered development that responds positively to its attractive setting while providing a much-needed new care facility for the local community.
The project is being brought forward through Mercroft, the joint venture between Barcroft Estates and Mercian Developments, with Barcroft currently progressing the opportunity through the planning and design process.
The Location
Farnham Common is an attractive and established village in Buckinghamshire, benefiting from a strong community, a range of local shops, cafés, restaurants and everyday services, together with good access to schools and other community facilities. The village enjoys an attractive setting close to the Chilterns and surrounding areas of open countryside, whilst its proximity to the M40 and M4 provides excellent connectivity to the wider region.
The combination of an established residential community, strong local amenities, attractive surroundings and excellent transport connections makes Farnham Common an appealing location for a new care home. The proposed development would provide an opportunity for residents to remain within a familiar and well-connected community while benefiting from high-quality purpose-built accommodation and care.
Barcroft's Role
Barcroft identified the development opportunity and secured the site through the Mercroft joint venture, working with the landowner to bring forward a proposal that responds to both the site’s setting and the needs of the local community.
The project demonstrates Barcroft’s ability to identify opportunities in attractive and sustainable locations where new care provision can make a meaningful contribution to established local need, while also supporting the delivery of specialist accommodation for older people that can help to free up existing homes for families and younger people.
