Barcroft Estates, through the Mercroft joint venture with Mercian Developments, has submitted an outline planning application for a new purpose-built care home at the former factory shop at Universal House, Market Drayton. The approximately 1.28-acre brownfield site is located immediately south of the Aldi supermarket and represents an opportunity to regenerate an underutilised commercial site within an established and sustainable location.
The proposed development will provide a 72-bed care home, creating high-quality specialist accommodation for older people within the local community. The site’s proximity to the Aldi supermarket and the wider facilities of Market Drayton provides a strong and accessible setting for the development, whilst the regeneration of the former commercial site will bring a redundant brownfield site back into productive use.
