Barcroft Estates, through the Mercroft joint venture with Mercian Developments, has submitted a reserved matters planning application for a new 72-bed purpose-built care home at the former factory shop at Universal House, Market Drayton. The application follows the earlier outline planning consent and represents the next stage in progressing the regeneration of the approximately 1.28-acre brownfield site.
The proposed care home has been designed to make efficient use of the previously developed site in a sustainable location close to the Aldi supermarket and the wider amenities of Market Drayton. The scheme will bring a redundant commercial site back into productive use while providing high-quality, purpose-built specialist accommodation for older people within the local community.
